March 9.
The escape of Buonaparte from the Isle of Elba has made a most unfavourable impression here. As the harbour of Port Ferrajo was observed by an Englisch man of war, we cannot imagine how he could escape with such revenue. We know not yet wheter he is gone to the French or Neapolitan coast.
Yesterday and to-day a great number of couriers have ben dispatched to Italy, and other parts of the monarchy. The new army of observation on the Italien frontiers is to be augmented to 60,000 men, and posted in three different points, so that the intended reduction of the army cannot be continued.
Our exchange has again experienced a very great depression.
